High River

A beautiful and historic town, High River has many century homes. There are currently 23 buildings with historical designations. Check out the walking tour link below. High River is also home to one of the most beautiful park/campgrounds around, George Lane Memorial Park. Mammoth poplar trees form a shady canopy to keep you cool all summer and the nearby river is beautiful to walk along.

High River is also home to many great boutique shops, coffee spots, a historic theatre, and more. For more modern amenities, there are 3 major grocery stores and large retailers like Canadian Tire and Marks.

Walking through the downtown core (situated between 1 St SW and MacLeod trail), there is the famous Maggie’s Diner from the tv show Heartland, Evelyns Memories diner, Collosi’s Coffee, and many other shops.

If you are new to the area and are looking to purchase in High River, make sure to do some due diligence about the river flooding in town and mitigation the province has implemented.

Local Highlights

We love stopping into the Narrow Road’s Creperie, which is run by a charitable foundation near and dear to the local population.

The Noble Teahouse is a wonderfully special place where you can enjoy afternoon tea in a historic 100 year old home.

The Dining Car (previously the Whistle Stop) is a restaurant set inside an old CP rail passenger train car.

High River is home to Highwood Golf Course which features 27 beautiful holes right in town along the river.

High River hosts Foothills Battle of the Chuckwagon races in the summer at the High River Rodeo Grounds.
